Ryan Albert Puzzitiello for the benefit of Ryan Andrew Puzzitiello Irrevocable Trust
On October 25, 2020 Ryan Puzzitiello suffered a tragic accident where he fractured three vertebrae in his neck and has left him paralyzed, as a tetraplegic, below his chest and in his wrists and hands. He graduated from Strongsville High School in 2018, and was in the fall semester of his junior year at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Business Finance when his injury occurred.
Ryan has had many battles along the way on his road to recovery. After his spinal fusion surgery in the Intensive Care Unit, the doctors had to place him on a ventilator as he had pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung. They also had to put a trach in his throat. In the middle of November they moved him to the MetroHealth Spinal Rehabilitation Institute where he received speech, physical, and occupational therapy 6 days a week. Since being there, he has majorly strengthened his breathing and is trying to regain his strength in the areas that he can move. He is now off the ventilator, his trach has been removed, and he can breathe, speak, and eat on his own. On January 12th of 2021, Ryan was able to come home. He is currently able to maneuver around in his power wheelchair and is still receiving outpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy at MetroHealth. Ryan is currently in a Stem Cell Clinical Trial at the Mayo Clinic. They have harvested his stem cells from his belly in February 2022. They were successfully injected into his spine June 15, 2022! All this time he has remained mentally strong, extremely positive, and is so grateful for the community's outpouring of love and prayer for his full recovery!
Ryan started taking online classes at The University of Cincinnati and is on track to graduate in Spring 2024!
